Lateral Wall Sinus Lift

In this site I’ll be posting random dental snip its.  In this case, we used this timeline for a recent sinus lift.  I’ve never done one just participating with the faculty on this one.  This is the timeline we went in with.  It actually took much longer.  Leave any comments below about what you may do differently or any thoughts about the procedure.

8:30   Bring pt back
     Drape
     Review HH
     Confirm medication 

8:33 Take BP
8:35 Numb area
     PSA Block
     Infiltrate area of 2, 4, 6
     Greater palatine nerve block
8:40 Review materials are set out
     Gown/Glove

8:45 Begin Surgery
8:45 Incision
     Mid-Crestal
     Releasing – #2 – mesial line angle, #6 distal line angle
     Score with periosteal elevator
     Use to fulcrum off teeth
     Reflect on buccal with sterile saline + sterile gauze – 18mm from crest
     Reflect on lingual
8:55 Sterile pencil to trace outline of window
     3mms from root of 1 and 5
     2mm above crest of bone for inferior border
     15mm above crest for superior border
9:00 Large round bur from DASK kit – 1,200 RPMs
     45° (coarse grit) to thin out cortical plate till you see blue membrane
     90° (fine grit + water to push) when close to membrane
9:10 Elevate membrane with blunt instrument from DASK
9:15 Piezo to extend window
9:20 Elevate membrane
     PISA – Posterior, Inferior, Superior, Anterior
9:30 Place graft (Anterior, Posterior, Middle)
     Collatape
     Bio Oss + Clindamycin
9:40 Tack membrane in 4 corners
9:50 Suture – 4.0 Chromic Gut
     Releasing on 6
     Releasing on 1
     Vertical mattress on 5/6
     Continuous interlocking along crest
